Gabriela Collao Barrios is a glaciologist whose research focuses on glacier flow and dynamics and their interactions with the climate and the ocean in the context of climate change. Her work combines numerical modelling and observational data to improve our understanding of glacier evolution, ice-sheet processes, and their contribution to future sea-level rise.

She is currently involved in the LIQUIDICE project, which enhances the realism of global coupled climate simulations by integrating the land ice component into the CMCC Earth System Model (CMCC-ESM). The project incorporates the Community Ice Sheet Model (CISM) under different coupling configurations to simulate the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets and investigate how interactions between ice sheets and the climate system influence future climate projections.”
