Marta Debolini is a researcher at INRAE (France) and associate researcher at the IAFES Division working mainly on agricultural and farming systems dynamics, land use change modeling, and adaptation of farming systems to climate change, in particular related to the use of water resources. She defended her thesis at the Institute of Life Sciences – Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Pisa, Italy) in December 2010 with a thesis on “Agricultural dynamics and soil conservation in Mediterranean rural landscapes”. After her PhD, she continued to work at the Institute of Life Sciences as a post-doc and in 2011 she received the 2011-2012 research award conferred by the Global Fund for Environment and Conflict Resolution for the project “Land management and land use conflict resolution in peri-urban areas: a geo-agronomic perspective” at Columbia University (NY). She developed this post-doc project in Morocco working on land use conflicts in the rural-urban fringe of Meknes in collaboration with other international research programs. Since November 2012, she is a permanent researcher at INRAE – UMR EMMAH (Avignon), where she co-leads the DREAM team “Land dynamics, functioning of agricultural lands and modelling”, aiming at analyzing the impacts of global changes on water resources and agricultural production at the territorial scale. It maintains a focus on the northern and southern Mediterranean territories, among others with the co-coordination of an international research project (Arimnet2 DIVERCROP), and the participation in other national and international scientific projects.
