Raffaele Ferrari, co-director of the MIT Lorenz Center, was appointed Bassi Fellow at CMCC from March 2026 to March 2027, with a residency at the organization’s office in Bologna.
Prof. Ferrari is an oceanographer, interested in the role the ocean plays in the Earth system. His fellowship focuses on studying sub-mesoscale processes using a very high-resolution (~100 m) ocean simulation that can explicitly resolve fine-scale fronts and turbulence while simultaneously representing basin-scale circulation.
