Gianolla Caterina

Caterina Gianolla is a PhD student in the “Future Earth, Climate Change and Societal Challenges” program at the University of Bologna. She works in the GlObal Coastal Ocean Division. Her studies focus on low to high complexity modeling of the river-sea continuum applied on the Danube River and the Black Sea. Moreover, she works on the coupling between estuarine and ocean coastal models, both considering unstructured and structured grids. Part of her research is also devoted to the analysis of turbulent closure schemes adopted in numerical ocean models and their future developments.

Before the PhD, she studied at the University of Trieste where she got a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and a Master’s Degree in Earth System Physics. Her Master’s thesis was conducted at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste on the topic “Analysis of the hydrological cycle of the Pannonian basin in a context of global climate change”
