Praveen Kumar joined the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) in September 2024, where he is part of the Global Coastal Ocean (GOCO) Division. He is currently engaged in the development of cloud-based geospatial applications and services.
Before joining CMCC, he worked at the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Department of Space, Government of India. He served as a Research Scientist from January 2022 to September 2024, and earlier as a Research Fellow from April 2019 to January 2022. During his tenure at NESAC, he was actively involved in the development of geo-spatial portals, real-time meteorological data visualization systems, and disaster risk reduction tools using open- source GIS technologies.
He holds an M.Tech. in Information Technology from Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur; a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), Lucknow; a Postgraduate Programme in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal; and a Certificate in Geoinformatics from the University of Twente, Netherlands.
