He obtained his PhD in Climate Dynamics and Oceanography with a minor in Applied Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, in 2018. Throughout his doctoral studies, the focus of his research was on investigating the mechanisms responsible for interannual to decadal-scale climate variability and climate change in the Pacific Ocean. Specifically, he conducted a thorough examination of the role played by extra-tropical El Niño precursor dynamics, such as Meridional Modes, in generating tropical decadal variability. Additionally, he explored various mechanisms through which changes in mean state associated with anthropogenic forcing influence the dynamics of Meridional Modes.

Recognizing the significance of inter-basin linkages in determining the phase evolution of Pacific decadal variability, he broadened his research scope to include the study of inter-basin interactions. This extension of his work was conducted during his period as a research fellow at Monash University, Australia. Beyond his primary research focus on Climate Variability, he has a great interest in ocean modeling, regional climate modeling, climate extremes, and paleoclimatology.
