This online European roundtable, carried out under the framework of the CLIMATEFIT project, in which CMCC is a project partner, will serve as a collaborative exchange between public authorities and private investors to jointly explore how to make adaptation projects financially viable and attractive to the private financial sector.
Building on previous activities of CLIMATEFIT, where local authorities presented flagship adaptation projects and explored suitable incentive mechanisms, the session aims to take a step further by focusing on how to structure predictable and sustainable revenue streams for adaptation investments.
Despite the growing policy focus on climate resilience, adaptation projects often struggle to attract private capital due to uncertain returns, limited monetisation of benefits, and fragmented local implementation.
The event will provide a space for both PAs and financial operators to:
- Reflect on lessons from ongoing engagements in CLIMATEFIT territories.
- Discuss practical mechanisms for revenue generation in adaptation projects.
- Identify what is needed, from both the public and private side, to enhance the bankability of local adaptation investments.
By analyzing practical examples and facilitating direct dialogue, participants will co-develop insights to support the structuring, replication, and upscaling of adaptation finance solutions across Europe.
