CMCC Webinar | 26 November, 2019 – h. 12:30 pm CET
Presenters:
Rupert W. Ford, Science and Technology Facilities Council | STFC, Scientific Computing Department, UK
Carlos Osuna Escamilla, MeteoSwiss, Switzerland
Moderator: Italo Epicoco, CMCC Foundation – ASC Division and University of Salento, Italy
The Domain Specific Languages (DSL) are gaining increasing interest in the weather and climate community.
The use of a DSL for programming weather and climate models will provide performance portability, accelerating algorithm development, increasing domain-scientist productivity through a higher level of abstraction, increased conciseness of the programmed mathematical algorithm and the application of newly developed front-end parser and a reliable DSL toolchain operating on a comprehensive intermediate representation of the science code.
During the webinar the PSyClone DSL will be presented and an example of the DSL application on the NEMO (Nucleus for European Modeling of the Ocean) model will be discussed.
