EDITO ModelLab General Assembly
Lecce, CMCC headquarters
January 16-18, 2024

The General Assembly of EDITO Model Lab has just started in Lecce and is scheduled from the 16th to the 18th of January, 2024.

EDITO project is part of the Digital Twin of the Ocean, that will provide a virtual representation of all marine and coastal environments around the globe, giving access to real-time and historical observations from thousands of sensors across the world ocean, as well as numerous satellites in space.
The 3-year EDITO Model Lab project aims to develop the next generation of ocean models, combining artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, to be integrated into the EDITO public infrastructure, providing access to focus applications and simulations of different what-if scenarios.

Fondazione CMCC is leading WP3 Models for the Digital Twin of the Ocean and works on the consolidation of existing numerical models for hydrodynamics and waves and develop the next generation of ocean model configurations optimized for European HPC hardware and the Digital Twin usage.
CMCC will advance with the model relocability tools including graphical user interfaces.  Furthermore, a key role will be played by CMCC in the development of the Focus Applications (MPAs for Biodiversity, Ship routes for Zero Carbon and Zero Pollution) and the What-If Scenarios (Nature-based Solution and Marine plastic for Zero pollution).
