The CMCC Foundation takes part in the MonGOOS General Assembly 2026 and coordinates the MonGOOS Workshop on Operational Oceanography in the Mediterranean Sea, taking place from 3 to 5 November 2026 at the Civitel Creta Beach Hotel in Heraklion, Crete, Greece.
As a member of the Mediterranean Oceanographic Network for the Global Ocean Observing System (MonGOOS), CMCC contributes to advancing operational oceanography in the Mediterranean Sea by supporting marine science, operational services, capacity building and applications that generate societal benefits.
The programme includes the MonGOOS General Assembly on 3 November, followed by the Workshop on 4–5 November, bringing together researchers, operational service providers, institutions and stakeholders to discuss the latest developments in Mediterranean operational oceanography.
Workshop on Operational Oceanography in the Mediterranean Sea | 4–5 November
The workshop welcomes contributions on marine observing systems, numerical modelling, forecasting, machine learning, Digital Twin of the Ocean technologies, marine ecosystem modelling, fisheries applications, climate services, marine hazard early warning systems, and user-oriented solutions based on open data and FAIR principles. Contributions focusing on the Southern Mediterranean and on the connections between the Mediterranean and Black Sea basins are particularly encouraged.
The scientific coordination of the workshop is supported by the CMCC Foundation through Emanuela Clementi and Svitlana Liubartseva, both members of the Workshop Scientific Committee.
Registration and Abstract Submission
Registration for the General Assembly and the Workshop is now open. Participants wishing to present their work are invited to submit an abstract. Both registration and abstract submission must be completed through the online registration form.
The workshop will be held in hybrid format, while oral presentations will be delivered on site only.
