Organized within the framework of the NATURANCE project, the second edition of the Naturethon “Seeds of Change — Citizens growing Nature-based Future” will take place after the first round “Navigating new paths for NbS Finance”. This initiative aims to engage citizen groups with the universe of Nature-based Solutions (NbS), by mobilizing and channeling compelling and productive dialogue between European (and beyond) communities.

The second round will include three training events in October and November 2025. Between sessions, participants will gain valuable insights to help them work independently within their own communities.

The CMCC Foundation plays a central role in the NATURANCE project and in the organization of the Naturethon, acting as project coordinator and leading core activities on dissemination, communication, engagement, and management.

The kick-off webinar of the initiative will take place on October 9, 16:00-17:30 CEST. The session will introduce the initiative, its structure, and what participants will achieve. Individual participants will be assigned to working groups, and existing groups will be presented.

  • Andrea Staccione (CMCC) will dive into NbS, covering what they are, their benefits, and how they are applied in the real world.
  • Luciana Favaro (Climate Pact Ambassador & EuCliPa.IT president) will highlight inspiring stories and best practices of citizen engagement in local decision-making.

After the presentations, participants will engage in the first 45-minute collaborative work session using an online collaborative board to start developing their own NbS ideas.

Through keynote presentations and expert discussions, participants will have the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and competences to support concrete actions in their territories. Building on the insights gained during the training sessions, facilitators will guide them in the design, implementation, and deployment of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) at the local level, contributing to the development of greener, more resilient, and more inclusive communities.

At the end of the initiative (December 1), groups will share their ideas with the Naturethon team: choose your preferred format—text, drawing, video, or any creative medium. The Naturethon team will review all the ideas, giving back operative feedbacks to shape feasible and meaningful actions.

Representatives of the three proposals that stand out for innovation, feasibility, and social and environmental impact will be hosted by the project at the upcoming Finance Innovation Festival in Brussels – February 3-5, 2026. There, they will have the opportunity to present the key highlights of their submission to an audience of international professionals. This will provide valuable feedback and suggestions for further improvement.
