Aim of the workshop – Background and context
The Venice Policy Meeting Workshop Round 2 on March 22nd, 2022 aims at promoting a fruitful discussion with CMCC, a STEAM+ policy partner, on the methodological approach of the STEAM+ project, focussing on the meaning of transdisciplinary knowledge, which is an inherent element of CMCC’s methods of research. While sharing lunch together, we will discuss what we mean for transdisciplinary in an informal, interactive and co-creative way, with the goal of sharing the experiences from the STEAM+ project as well as from CMCC work, best practices and perspectives on the benefits of transdisciplinary knowledge.
The STEAM+ project, one of the Erasmus+ KA3 Forward-Looking Cooperation projects to support policy reforms, aims to provide educational policy makers with instruments to prepare new generations for handling the challenges of our time.
STEAM+ uses transdisciplinary talent programs such as the Collegio Internazionale Ca’ Foscari as laboratories of innovation in Higher Education (HE), making use of the A of All other disciplines as the yeast to elaborate new solutions as opposed to the narrower answers offered by STEM knowledge.
During the three STEAM+ Innovation Labs, students and teachers from nine countries co-create solutions for grand challenges and a subsequent series of workshops and policy meetings with policy and associated partners to consider and suggest possible impact and innovation on European societies. The experience from the Labs and the suggestions from workshops will be used to create two main products:
- An instrument on how to establish transdisciplinary talent programs in HE, The STEAM+ Innovation Lab Implementation Path (ILIP)
- An instrument for policy makers in HE at the local, regional, national and EU level to support and recognize (or develop) such programs, the
STEAM+ Menu for Policy Inspiration (MPI)
The Collegio Internazionale Ca’ Foscari hosted the first STEAM+ Innovation Lab, in July 18-23 2021 in Venice, while the second online lab was led by Klaipeda University (Lithuania).
