Choudhary Sourav

Sourav Choudhary holds a Ph.D. in Water Resources from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and an M.Tech in Water Resources Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna, India. His research centers on groundwater modeling under climate change, integrating mathematical and numerical approaches with machine learning to support sustainable groundwater management. During his doctoral studies, he also received a grant to deliver a talk titled “Comparative Assessment of Hydrological Response of the Upper Godavari Sub-basin under CMIP6 Climate Model Scenarios” at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy. After his Ph.D. he has worked as an Associate Research Fellow at the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Roorkee, Government of India, on environmental flow assessment of rivers. Currently, his work focuses on the design, implementation, and validation of three-dimensional variable-density groundwater models, including coupled seawater intrusion simulations under climate change scenarios using SEAWAT and WRF-Hydro. His expertise also encompasses surface–groundwater interaction studies, geospatial prioritization & decision-support analysis, bias correction of climate models, and the application of metaheuristic optimization techniques for hydrological and environmental modeling.
