Maria Katherina Dal Barco holds a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences (2020) and PhD in Science and Management of Climate Change at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (April 2025). As part of her PhD research, she applied various Artificial Intelligence tools and methods for multi-risk assessment in coastal areas, with a focus on the Veneto region – in the frame of the Interreg Italy-Croatia AdriaClim and H2020 MYRIAD-EU projects.

Maria Katherina is currently a post-degree/post-doc researcher at the Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies (RAAS) Division of the CMCC Foundation, contributing to several international projects, including Interreg Italy-Croatia AcquaGuard, H2020 MYRIAD-EU and AGILE.

During her MSc programme, she completed a training internship at CMCC’s RAAS Division, where she gained hands-on experience in climate change and coastal erosion risk assessment – contributing to projects such as Venezia2021, SAVEMEDCOASTS-2, DG CLIMA, and Interreg Greece-Italy TRITON.

Her research interests include climate change vulnerability, multi-risk assessment and management, with a particular focus on coastal areas. She actively collaborates with local stakeholders to ensure research outcomes are robust, actionable, and tailored to local contexts. She is also engaged in disseminating project findings to communities and authorities to support informed decision-making and adaptation planning.
