Paolo Ghinassi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) in Bologna, within the Climate Variability and Prediction division. His research focuses on decadal climate prediction, with particular emphasis on the dynamics of the large-scale extratropical circulation, in particular over the North Atlantic and European sectors. Previously, he worked as postdoc at CNR-ISAC contributing to several projects such as PRIMAVERA, Destination Earth, and ENCIRCLE, addressing topics such as the representation of Rossby wave packets in climate models, weather regimes, tropical cyclones, and extreme precipitation linked to mediterranean cyclones. He obtained his PhD in Meteorology from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz within the Waves to Weather project, working on the dynamics and predictability of Rossby Waves.
