Julia Kaiser has been a researcher at CMCC’s GOCO division since 2024. She is an oceanographer with an M.Sc. Degree in Ocean Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, obtained in 2020.
At CMCC, her research focuses on coastal ocean modeling, particularly in the Adriatic Sea. She contributes to advancing 3D finite element modeling of the river-sea continuum, integrating hydrological modeling, and analyzing estuarine dynamics. She is currently involved in projects addressing salinization issues and developing nature-based solutions.
Julia has extensive experience in metocean data analysis (buoys, ADCPs, weather stations, tide gauges, satellite data, etc.), numerical modeling of waves and winds, and programming for environmental data processing. Previously, she worked as a metocean researcher at COPPE/UFRJ, where she coordinated the environmental modeling team at LIOC. Her research focused on wave climate in the South Atlantic Ocean, and she managed an operational forecasting system that provided daily metocean forecasts for port operations.
