Elena holds a MS in Earth Sciences in the direction of Oceanography and Meteorology and a BS in Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology from the Tallinn University of Technology. Her previous experience includes development of the methodologies and ecological state assessment of surface water bodies in the Estonian Environmental Agency. She was also Project Manager, supervising projects for the reconstruction of fresh water and wastewater treatment infrastructure in the Republic of Estonia.

Since September 2022 she has worked at CMCC OPA Division/OceanLab, mainly in activities concerned with fundraising, communication, dissemination and project management.
