Sara Tornabene (she, her) is an Associate Scientist and Policy Analyst, conducting research in the Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies (RAAS) Division at Fondazione CMCC@Ca’Foscari. Prior to joining CMCC, Sara worked as a R&I Project Manager for APRE (the Agency for the Promotion of European Research), designing and implementing research and innovation projects within Pillar II of Horizon Europe (Cluster 2–Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society, Cluster 5-Climate, Energy and Mobility, Cluster 6-Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment, and the Adaptation to Climate Change Mission).
She builds on more than 10 years of experience as an interdisciplinary researcher in different cultural contexts, including Eastern Sicily and the South and North-East of the United States. Her research interests bridge environmental, economic, and social justice with policy impact. She also served as Assistant Director of Policy at the City of Boston (USA), spearheading policy innovation at the intersection of climate adaptation and workforce development.
Sara holds a PhD in Urban Geography from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (USA), which builds on her interdisciplinary background in Urban Planning, Anthropology, Architecture, and Engineering.
