General objectives:

The project ERN Apulia 3 aims at organizing the 2021 European Researchers’ Night in the Apulia Region. The European Researchers’ Night is an initiative funded by the European Commission since 2005 that involves many researchers and research institutions in all the European countries. The initiative aims to increase awareness of research and innovation activities, with a view to supporting the public recognition of researchers, creating an understanding of the impact of researchers’ work on citizen’s daily life, and encouraging young people to embark on research careers. Activities that can be supported include: hands-on experiments conducted by researchers, science shows with public participation, exhibits, debates, guided visits of labs, research institutes, science museums and other relevant places that are usually closed to the public, virtual events and online videos.

CMCC role:

On September 24, 2021, the CMCC Foundation participates in the European Researchers’ Night. The CMCC will introduce itself to the public to share its knowledge and expertise while showing how cutting-edge research can benefit society. More in detail, the CMCC will present its research in the municipality of Lecce with some videos illustrating some of its projects and research initiatives focused on the changing climate, the marine environment and wildfire risk and prevention.
