General aimsTop

The project has 4 objectives :

First, to assess climate variability and climate change impacts on the characteristics and predictability of tropical cyclones with emphasis on sea level rise, storm surge and flooding;
Second, to develop integrated climate and economic models and to define possible adaptation measures within 2012;
Third, to understand how climate change affects biodiversity (e.g. coral reefs) in the archipelagos, thus influencing both the functioning of ecosystems (richness of endemic species and local resources) and the services they provide (flood protection);
Fourth, to develop a training and education component in order to achieve the aims and objectives of the capacity building component of the project.

CMCC RoleTop

CMCC will undertake all coordinating tasks associated with administration and financial control of the programme (except for WP3).
