A new era for Adriatic small ports: the advancements of FRAMESPORT project

Turning point for the FRAMESPORT project (“FRAMEwork initiative fostering the sustainable development of Adriatic Small PORTs”): one year and a half after the official start of the Interreg Italy-Croatia project, the results achieved up to now will be presented during the Mid-term Conference “Greener, smarter, more connected: towards a new era for small ports, to be held Tuesday 14th December at the IUAV University of Venice premises (Aula Magna Tolentini).

The event will be an opportunity to describe the state of the art of this cross-border cooperation project that aims at promoting an integrated and sustainable development of Adriatic small ports and marinas. It will also mark the beginning of the second phase of the project, launching an in-depth dialogue with the stakeholders. A discussion that will allow to highlight priorities and main challenges to be tackled, thus paving the way for the development of a common strategy that will support the overall development of small ports.

The CMCC Foundation is partner of the project (with Giovanni Coppini, Director of OPA – Ocean Predictions and Applications Division, as scientific coordinator) mainly working on the pilot concerning networking and innovative services for Apulia small ports but also for other locations in the programme area.

Representatives of some of the 15 Project partners and local and national authorities of the two countries will be on stage. Pierpaolo Campostrini, director of CORILA and FRAMESPORT coordinator, will provide an overview of the project advancements and the final expected results. Jana Borić (Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Maritime Affairs Directorate) will present the current scenario of small ports and marinas of the Programme area, in terms of infrastructures and services, based on data gathered within FRAMESPORT’s scope. Giuseppe Luppino, Responsible for EU Project at Fondazione ITL, will introduce the pilot initiatives that are currently being activated. Alessandro Bove (University of Padova) will then intervene to describe the relevance of introducing an ecolabel for small ports, to operate towards a green and sustainable development. The agenda also includes a roundtable with some of the relevant stakeholders that have been engaged until now, to collect their point of view and a perspective on the main interventions needed. The discussion will be moderated by Marco Mazzarino (IUAV University of Venice), expert in the transport sector.

The event will be held in presence, access will be guaranteed exclusively upon prior registration at the following LINK. Due to the limited number of seats available, registrations will be accepted in chronological order and access to the Hall will only be allowed upon verification of the green pass, as per the current legislation.
