Described as the insider’s guide to the global marketplace of ideas, the Global GoTo Think Tank Report is an international survey of scholars, public and private donors, policy makers, and journalists who helped analyze and rank the activities of thousands of think tanks while highlighting the important work they do for governments and civil societies around the world.

Released by the “Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program University of Pennsylvania” and now in its sixth edition, the 2012 Global GoTo Think Tank Report features the CMCC as one of the most important organizations in the world and one of the top rank organizations in Italy.
More in detail, the CMCC is ranked in the Top100 of the global organizations (Non-US) and in the first 150 positions on the global classification (US and Non-US).

This result represents an important recognition of CMCC’s work and its activities of scientific support to policy and decision makers in the field of climate change at the global, regional and national level, and in the design and development of adaptation and mitigation strategies. Climate models developed and used by CMCC allow the production of probability assessments of future risks related to climate change and the impacts of extreme events on ecosystems and socio-economic systems. Furthermore, studies and analysis carried out at CMCC also focus on the possible effects that different strategies have on adaptation and mitigation, highlighting the costs and benefits (both for the society and environment) regarding different choices in multiple scenarios.

CMCC’s ranking in the Global GoTo Think Tank Index is an evidence of the capability of an Italian excellence to operate in the international scenario and it is furthermore the proof that climate change is becoming one of the most urgent and challenging issues for policy makers whose choices will be crucial for our societies and for the future of the Planet.
