What does resilience mean? How to protect ourselves for the next extreme event?
Prof Alan Blumberg (Davidson Laboratory, Stevens Institute of Technology, USA), tried to answer to these questions last 25 June, 2015, in a seminar entitled “Providing environmental awareness to the urban coasts – land and sea”.
Blumberg introduces the research at the Davidson Laboratory while illustrating the case study of the hurricane Sandy, what they’re doing to minimize the damage from severe weather and rising sea levels, or to quantify the effect of storm surges and climate-change on both sea level and rainfall in NYC neighborhoods.
