CMCC has strengthened its role within the Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium (IAMC), securing two significant recognitions in the Consortium’s governance and scientific structure. At the 19th Annual Meeting, which will be held in person from 17 to 19 November in Athens, Greece, will feature key contributions from CMCC researchers.
In July 2026 CMCC was confirmed as an Institutional Member of IAMC’s Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) for the 2026–2029 term. Massimo Tavoni, Director of CMCC’s European Institute on Economics and the Environment, will represent the Foundation on the Committee, the consortium’s principal governing body.
In addition, CMCC senior scientist Laurent Drouet has been appointed as one of three Co-Chairs of the newly established Scientific Working Group on Responsible AI for IAM Research (AI4IAM), alongside Haewon McJeon (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, KAIST) and Yang Ou (Peking University). IAMC acts as a collaborative platform for community learning, the exchange of best practices, and the development of formal guidance on how artificial intelligence is used within integrated assessment modeling research, with the aim of ensuring AI tools are adopted effectively and responsibly while keeping scientific outputs transparent, robust and open.
These appointments confirm CMCC’s active and growing role in shaping the scientific agenda of the international integrated assessment modeling community.
