The 30th Annual Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE 2025), whose Secretariat is managed by the CMCC Foundation, will take place on June 16-19, 2025 at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in Bergen, Norway.

The EAERE Annual Conference is an invaluable opportunity for meeting, exchanging and debating current topics in environmental and resource economics. The Conference will start on Monday, 16 June with an afternoon dedicated to parallel Science-Policy-Business Sessions. The General Assembly of EAERE Members will follow. From Tuesday, June 17, to Thursday, June 19, EAERE 2025 will host three keynote lectures delivered by Robin Burgess (London School of Economics), Tatyana Deryugina (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) and Catherine Wolfram (MIT Sloan School of Management) and several parallel scientific sessions. In addition, the programme will feature some institutional sessions and thrilling social events.

CMCC researchers will present their papers, organize a science-policy-business session, a thematic session and a workshop, and participate in an award session. Have a look at our contribution to the Conference Programme and follow our events.

Rebound Effects from Circular Economy Practices: Pathways and Policy Options

This session delves into rebound effects linked to resource efficiency measures and circular economy strategies. It examines behavioral and market drivers, using models and case studies, and identifies policies to mitigate impacts.

WORKSHOP

ERC Grants Workshop: Advancing Frontier Research in Environmental Economics

This workshop brings together current and former European Research Council (ERC) grantees specializing in environmental and resource economics to present pioneering research funded by the ERC. Featuring concise presentations and an engaging panel discussion, the session will explore the transformative impact of ERC-funded projects, provide practical insights into the grant application process, and inspire early-career researchers to pursue frontier research.

This session highlights key market mechanisms, policy mix, and trade-offs in advancing circularity across environmental dimensions and scales, featuring insights from four innovative studies.

AWARD SESSION

On Wednesday 18 June, 10:00-10:30 am CEST, CMCC-affiliated researcher Filippo Pavanello will receive the EAERE Award for Best Doctoral Dissertations in Environmental and Resource Economics.


The Conference will take place in person, with a portfolio of online events as part of the programme.
