The Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) takes part in Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition, one of Europe’s leading public events dedicated to open innovation and hands-on creativity, taking place at the Gazometro Ostiense in Rome from 23 to 25 October 2026.

As coordinator of the Horizon Europe project SWITCH, which aims to improve the sustainability and nutritional quality of our diets, CMCC will present the project’s achievements and results to date at a dedicated stand. The stand is run by CMCC researchers Maria Vincenza Chiriacò, Senior Researcher and SWITCH project coordinator, and Federica Fabiani, in collaboration with project partners AGROCAMERA-Roma and POSTI.

The stand will showcase some of the innovative technologies developed within SWITCH to support a just transition towards healthier and more sustainable food systems in Europe. Visitors will be able to discover and try out two tools:

• SWITCH Food Explorer, which allows users to assess the environmental and nutritional impact of their food choices and to create daily and weekly meal plans;
• MyFreshFood, a tool equipped with a spectrometer that measures sugar content and other nutritional properties of food in real time, helping consumers better understand what they eat and make more informed dietary choices.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors can also take part in interactive games and engaging activities designed to raise awareness of food, nutrition and the environmental impacts of dietary choices.

Maker Faire Rome brings together makers, researchers, companies, institutions and the public for three days of demonstrations, workshops, talks and live activities. Its themes include robotics and artificial intelligence, agrifood, circular economy and sustainability, education, and digital fabrication.
