The CMCC Foundation, coordinator of the OAeSIS project, takes part in the project kick-off meeting, which brings the consortium together for the first time in Bologna, from 10 to 12 November 2026.
OAeSIS is a four-year Horizon Europe project, started on 1 June 2026 and coordinated by the CMCC Foundation, that investigates the sustainability and impacts of Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement across scales.
The meeting opens with a project introduction and the European Commission and REA’s expectations for the implementation phase. It then presents the work packages that are running or about to begin, including the ethical guidelines and the project handbook.
Three integration workshops, on biogeochemical model–data integration, ecological impact and sustainability scenario development, foster collaboration across work packages.
The final day gives short introductions to the work packages starting later, feedback from the External Expert Advisory Board, an introduction to related projects and next steps.
The CMCC Foundation will be represented at the meeting by researchers Momme Butenschön, Ilaria Ghaleb, Tomas Lovato and Laurent Drouet.
