He obtained a degree in Environmental Science in 2002 and Ph.D. in Geophysics in 2007 at the University of Bologna. In 2008, he held the position of scientific consultant at the Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Climate Change and in the same year, the position of researcher at the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, working on ocean data assimilation and modeling. He worked in the field of air pollution data assimilation and modeling at National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and sustainable Economic Development, where he held a research position in 2013.

Since 2023 he is working on ocean data assimilation at Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Climate Change. His major interests are in forecasting capabilities and data assimilation.
