Alcaras Emanuele

Emanuele Alcaras holds a PhD in Environment, Resources, and Sustainable Development, specializing in Geomatics. His research focuses on the application of GIS and remote sensing techniques for environmental monitoring, with particular expertise in pan-sharpening and in the analysis of environmental changes driven by natural hazards and climate change. In 2026, he joined the CMCC Foundation as part of the REMHI Division within the Institute for Climate Resilience, where he works as a Researcher in Climate Impacts on Transport Infrastructure.
He has extensive experience in 3D modelling, working with Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) and hydrographic datasets, and applying advanced spatial interpolation methods such as kriging. Throughout his academic career, he has contributed to multidisciplinary research projects aimed at promoting sustainability and increasing awareness of contemporary environmental challenges.
As strong advocate of open science, he prioritizes the use of free and open-source data and software to promote inclusivity, transparency, and reproducibility in research. A defining aspect of his work is the rigorous accuracy assessment of applied methodologies, ensuring robust, reliable, and measurable outcomes.
