via Thomas Alva Edison s.n.c. - 81100 Caserta (CE), Italy

Carmela Apreda graduated with honor in Architecture and got a PhD in Architecture at the University of Naples “Federico II” (Italy) with a thesis about the development of a climate vulnerability and adaptation assessment model for urban areas. Her main research interests concern the relationships between urban morphology, microclimate and outdoor thermal comfort and the quantitative evaluation of adaptation measures using physically based models able to simulate Urban Heat Island processes at significant spatial scales (from the canyon to the building scale). At present she works at CMCC Foundation – REMHI Division, where she conducts research activity concerning urban microclimate and thermal comfort modelling by analyzing small-scale interactions between buildings, surfaces and plants. She is also working on parameterization of built environment characteristics (density, geometry, surface cover).
