General aims
DemoEPR aims to transform Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes for ICT products from narrow recycling-focused instruments into comprehensive circular economy enablers, addressing the full waste hierarchy including reuse, repair, and refurbishment.
CMCC role
CMCC leads WP5 (Economic, environmental and social impacts of EPR schemes), bringing its expertise in environmental and socioeconomic modelling to quantify the impacts of EPR schemes.
Activities
CMCC activities are organised around three interconnected streams: 1) Evaluating how the design of EPR affects economic outcomes, including cost efficiency and innovation dynamics; 2) Assessing how the design of EPR affects the environmental costs and benefits of key ICT products; 3) Assessing the social and labour market impacts of digital services and EPR.
Expected results
DemoEPR is expected to deliver seven validated pilots demonstrating innovative EPR solutions for ICT products, alongside a robust evidence base on the economic, environmental, and social impacts of existing and prospective EPR schemes. The results from the different activities will be merged to generate a roadmap for European EPR.
