The activity of the Monitoring Agricultural ResourceS OPerational (MARSOP for short) – Lot 4 concentrates on the management and operational maintenance of visualization and analysis services dedicated to users, with the aim to assess the impact of weather events on crop growth, to monitor crop growth and to forecast the yields of the various crops.

General aims
The MARSOP4 project aims to provide the necessary elements to understand the impact of weather events on crop growth, to monitor crop growth and to forecast the yields of the main crops in Europe, neighbourhood countries and other areas of the world. Specifically, the objective of LOT 4 is to allow the inspection and display of the JRC MARS database content via dedicated services for authorized users and to disseminate data and information to the public through dedicated web sites and additional services.

Expected results
- Operational management and maintenance of a Flex application in web and stand-alone version for the interactive inspection of a MARSOP4 Database subset to produce maps and graphs.
- Development and maintenance of an automated system for the periodical production of maps, graphs and the related web environment for their publication.
- Development and maintenance of a web-portal to gather and link the different sources of information and services.
Activity
LOT4 connects MARSOP4 results and databases to display, analyse and download content through three main services:
- A data visualization service that relies on data stored in a RDBMS system; this system has to be updated daily with the latest data available in the relevant DBs;
- A service for the generation of a set of up-to-date images/maps and graphs with indicators derived from the MARSOP4 database and published through static web pages;
- A web-portal linking the different functionalities.
All those services shall be run operationally non-stop 7 days a week.
