CMCC will participate in the AI for Good Global Summit 2026, the United Nations’ leading platform on Artificial Intelligence, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with more than 50 UN agencies and co-convened with the Government of Switzerland.
The summit brings together governments, international organizations, academia, the private sector, and civil society to explore how AI can help address global challenges and support sustainable development through innovation, capacity building, standards, and policy dialogue.

7 July 2026, 09:00 – 17:15 CEST | Innovate for Impact
The Innovate for Impact initiative aims to promote inclusive AI adoption by collecting, analyzing, and scaling high-impact use cases, while fostering global collaboration among stakeholders. Since its launch in 2024, the initiative has received over 200 use cases and 100+ scholar applications from more than 35 countries, with selected projects showcased through global reports and workshops. These efforts have enabled knowledge exchange, mentorship, and capacity building, particularly for participants from developing regions.
Representing CMCC, Francesca Larosa will contribute to the discussions as a member of the AI for Good Impact Initiative Steering Committee, bringing CMCC’s expertise to international efforts aimed at harnessing artificial intelligence for societal and environmental benefit.
7 July 2026, 09:00 – 12:15 CEST | Workshop AI in disaster resilience: Bridging science, standards and innovation
Diving straight into that challenge, the event shows how scientific innovation, technology development, and international standardization can finally close the gap. Participants will explore how AI breakthroughs in hazard monitoring, forecasting, hydrology, and emergency response can be translated into operational systems that governments and responders can actually use. Key questions drive the conversation: How do we move research into implementation? How do standards unlock trust, interoperability, and adoption across borders? And how do we bring researchers, developers, policymakers, and end users into true collaboration? Featuring global case studies and work from the Global Initiative on Resilience to Natural Hazards through AI Solutions, the session highlights why aligned science, innovation, and standards are essential for building AI systems that are not only advanced—but usable, reliable, and ready for real world impact.

7 July 2026, 12:30 – 14:00 CEST | Roundtable AI in education, research and skills development roundtable
The AI in Education, Research and Skills Development Roundtable brings together presidents of leading universities, industry leaders and international stakeholders to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming higher education. As AI reshapes teaching, research and skills development, the session will examine its impact on how knowledge is produced, validated and governed, as well as its role in enhancing learning and research practices and informing ethical frameworks.
CMCC researcher Francesca Larosa will contribute to the discussions of the roundtable.
7 July 2026, 17:00 – 18:30 CEST | Fourth meeting of the Global Initiative on Resilience to Natural Hazards through AI Solutions
This meeting focuses on reviewing written contributions, use-cases and case-studies and advance on the development of the deliverables. CMCC Senior Scientist Elena Xoplaki will participate.
9 July 2026, 16:00 – 17:30 CEST | AI Skills Coalition partner annual meeting
This invitation-only annual partner meeting brings together the AI Skills Coalition community — a diverse group of stakeholders advancing capacity-building across the AI for Good ecosystem. Designed as a space for meaningful exchange, the reception aims to foster new collaborations, surface joint initiatives, and strengthen alignment across capacity-building efforts in AI. CMCC researcher Francesca Larosa will participate.
10 July 2026, 8:30 – 09:30 CEST | Impact initiative breakfast meeting
The Impact Initiative Breakfast Meeting, moderated by Shivagami, will mainly introduce the new flagship initiative — the AI for Good Lab. The Lab aims to create an integrated platform bringing together AI Readiness assessment, AI Sandbox implementation, policy toolkits, standards alignment, capacity-building, and collaborative innovation mechanisms. The meeting will also discuss the proposed workplan for 2027. CMCC researcher Francesca Larosa will participate.
