The Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) takes part in the Quantum Computing for Earth Observation (QC4EO) Symposium 2026, taking place in Benevento, Italy, from 25 to 27 October 2026. Alessandro Sebastianelli (CMCC) is a member of the Organizing Committee.

The symposium is organized by the QC4EO Working Group, part of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) QUEST technical committee. It focuses primarily on quantum computing and quantum machine learning for Earth Observation, and also welcomes contributions on quantum technologies for Earth Observation more broadly and on quantum technologies in general. Particular attention is given to work that explores how approaches developed in other domains can be transferred into the Earth Observation field.

The goal is to introduce students and early-career researchers to this rapidly growing field, encourage their involvement in research activities, and give an overview of the main international organizations and initiatives in quantum technologies, with a focus on future directions.

The programme includes invited talks of approximately one hour, a poster session for students, a panel discussion and a social dinner, designed to foster discussion and exchange among invited speakers, students and early-career researchers.

This is an in-person event. More information, including the detailed programme, is available on the symposium website.
