Luca Famooss Paolini is a postdoctoral researcher in the Climate Simulation and Prediction (CSP) Division at CMCC, where his research focuses on seasonal prediction of extreme events using machine learning and hybrid statistical–dynamical approaches. With a background in environmental engineering, he holds a PhD in Science and Management of Climate Change from Ca’ Foscari University and CMCC, where he investigated ocean–atmosphere interactions and North Atlantic climate variability. Before joining CMCC, he worked at the University of Bologna on the physical drivers of European summer temperature extremes, while also developing hybrid statistical–dynamical approaches to improve seasonal forecasts of heat extremes and health-related heat-stress indicators.
