Dario Nicolì has been working at the CMCC Foundation in Bologna, Italy, since 2019 in the Climate Variability and Predictability division. His research focuses on decadal climate predictability and coupled modeling, particularly for the Euro-Mediterranean region and the North Atlantic Ocean.

He contributed to the development of the CMCC decadal prediction system within the EUCP and ASPECT projects. Since 2020, he has overseen the operational production of decadal forecasts and contributed to the design, execution, and analysis of prediction experiments as part of the CMIP6 Decadal Climate Prediction Project (DCPP) and the Large Ensemble Single Forcing Model Intercomparison Project (LESFMIP) for CMCC.
