General aims
This project aimed to develop a scientific cooperation between Italian and Rumenian institutions with the final goal of transferring scientific-technical know-how from Italy to Rumenia.
The project dealt with the following scientific fields: climate change modelling, extreme climate events, and their changes in frequencies and intensities, assessment of the extreme climate events’ impacts on agriculture, energy distribution, tourism and public health, management strategies of extreme events risks and warnings, integrated and sustainable development, sustainable management of the natural resources, adaptation.
CMCC Role
The Project was co-ordinated by the CMCC, who, as unique partner, was responsible for all of the tasks developed within the project.
Expected results
- 6 fellowships awarded to rumenian students for the Master MEMA (Master in Economics and Environmental Management) at Università Bocconi di Milano, and for the Master in Land and Water Conservation at Università degli Studi di Bologna.
- A one year fellowship awarded to 4 qualified Romanian researcher for visits to CMCC and ARPA SIM Emilia Romagna.
- 2 training courses on ‘Impacts of Climate Change and Adaptation’ for personnel of different Romanian Ministries have been held in Bucharest from 29 to 31 October 2007 and from 10 to 11 November 2008. Follow the link to download the materials of the courses (4MB).
Activity
The transfer of scientific-technical know-how took place through fellowships for visits to Italy of Rumenian students, post-doctorates, and scientists, as well as trough the organisation of training courses in Rumenia for Rumanian Ministerial personnel.
