FEAMP – Ecosystem approach to support the protection and management of Natura 2000 sites in heavily anthropized areas

Previous data and in-situ data will be collected within specific sampling campaigns and with the use of the monitoring stations of the C-CEMS observation system and particular numerical models, will be analyzed the physical environment and the variation over time of the state of health of the P. oceanica, thus quantifying the economic value of the P. oceanica meadows present in the two SCIs and the entity and effect of the different stressors.

General objectives:

The operation aims to provide support for the drafting of management plans aimed at restoring and conserving the biodiversity and ecosystem functions of the P.oceanica meadows habitat within the Natura 2000 sites of the coastal area of Civitavecchia.

CMCC role:

Coordinating organization.

Activities:

In-situ data will be collected and numerical simulations will be carried out which will subsequently be used to quantify the economic value of the P.oceanica meadows present in the two SCIs and to evaluate the entity and effect of the various stressors acting in the study area.

Expected results:

Through the data collected, it will be possible to define and quantify on an economic basis (according to the approach proposed by the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment) interventions aimed at promoting the restoration of ecosystem services and the maintenance of biodiversity.
