INDO-MARECLIM is a collaborative effort between European and Indian research centres with the aim to cooperate with India on marine eco system and climate reasearch studies, including impacts on society. CMCC is one of the European partners involved and it will focus on the study of the Indian monsoon variability, its teleconnections and of the Indian Ocean influence on the monsoon itself. CMCC will be involved in conferences and workshops of interest for the cooperation with India and to the organization of a summer school in India focused on the themes above.

General aims
- To use and extend NERCI as a joint research facility for scientific co-operation between India and the European Union member states and associated countries in the areas of monsoon climate variability, marine ecosystems and coastal management including impact on society.
- Organize and host workshops and summer school inviting European and Indian scientists, post-docs and PhDs.
- Define, prepare and submit competitive new joint scientific research projects in cooperation between Indian and European research institutions to national and international funding agencies, including EU.
- Prepare the way for institutional arrangements at NERCI to include research organizations from additional Member States and Associated Countries strengthening and sustaining the scientific cooperation between Europe and India.
Expected results
- Reports and scientific articles on the project themes;
- Organization and hosting of workshop and of summer schools on the project themes;
- Indo-European joint project proposal to National and International funding agencies;
- Strengthening of Indian-European cooperation.
