CMCC Policy Brief: Accelerating Adaptation Delivery
Why the Adaptation Accelerator Hub & the NAP Implementation Alliance matter now
The global adaptation agenda is entering a new phase: from planning to delivery. While countries have made significant progress in developing National Adaptation Plans, implementation continues to lag behind policy ambition, constrained by gaps in finance, institutional capacity, and project pipelines.
Produced by the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) in support of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE), this CMCC Policy Brief examines two initiatives designed to help close this implementation gap: the Adaptation Accelerator Hub (AAH), launched under Italy’s G7 Presidency, and the NAP Implementation Alliance (NIA), launched under the COP30 Action Agenda. The Brief explores how these complementary initiatives can help move adaptation from national priorities and plans to coordinated action and measurable results on the ground. It also highlights Italy’s role in advancing adaptation implementation and fostering international cooperation.
