More information

The CMCC – Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change will take part in the Peer Review: “Czechia: Peer Review on Disaster Risk Management”, which will be held in Prague from 2 to 7 March 2026.

A Peer Review on disaster risk management offers a country or region the opportunity to reflect on its level of preparedness to cope with natural and human-induced hazard-related disasters, and to identify concrete ways to strengthen prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery capacities.

The initiative is organised and financed by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) within the framework of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM). Through this mechanism, Member States, Participating States, eligible Third Countries, and European Neighbourhood Policy countries are supported in reviewing their disaster risk management (DRM) policies and practices. The process takes stock of existing strengths and weaknesses and formulates recommendations aimed at enhancing overall effectiveness.

Based on an independent and evidence-based analysis, the Peer Review supports civil protection authorities in improving their DRM capabilities, identifying innovative and more effective approaches to policy and operations, and fostering mutual learning and the exchange of good practices. It also contributes to raising awareness among national stakeholders involved in DRM and to proposing concrete, actionable recommendations.

CMCC Speakers: Veronica Casartelli, Dana Salpina, Angelica Marengo and Irene Cassine
