Andrea Castelletti is Full Professor of Systems and Control at Politecnico di Milano, where he leads the Environmental Intelligence Lab and chairs the PhD Programme in Science, Technology and Policy for Sustainable Change. Since 2014, he has been Director of the Technologies for Climate Transition Division at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC).

He holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering and a PhD in Systems and Control Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. His research focuses on the planning and management of water and hydro-environmental systems under uncertainty, decision-making for complex systems, and machine-learning applications in hydroclimatology. He has held visiting appointments at Princeton University, Cornell University, ETH Zurich, Lancaster University, and the University of Western Australia. He was Senior Scientist at ETH Zurich from 2014 to 2022 and Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Water Research of the University of Western Australia from 2007 to 2015.

Professor Castelletti has coordinated or led numerous national and international research projects. He is co-author of two international books and more than 200 scientific publications. He is a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences, Engineering Division, and serves as Editor of Water Resources Research and Environmental Research: Water, and Associate Editor of Socio-Ecological Systems Modelling.
