EU CISE 2020 is a Security Research project of the European Seventh Framework Program; it aims at achieving the pre-operational Information Sharing between the maritime authorities of the European States.

General aims
- improve the harmonization of the cross-sectorial maritime situation;
- assure the Member States / Nations to directly control the management of shared information through CISE cross-sector node/nodes;
- allow better use of European resources through direct financing of government that can most appropriately exploit the project results in terms of definition and harmonization of requirements and standardization and reuse of solutions;
- ensure the optimization of available information avoiding, at the same time, the waste of resources due to duplication of existing systems in use and the capability to provide cooperating countries with an open platform to share data, information and services.
CMCC Role
Delivery of operationally marine condition relates products (simulations and forecasts) at high and very high resolution for the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. Integration of the basic marine products with meteorological information in the Mediterranean Sea, coordinating also with the other participating meteo-marine and oceanographic service Institutions.
Expected results
Improvement of the degree of integration between space and in situ maritime surveillance systems, promoting the use of satellite systems and maritime services for maritime surveillance, particularly in matters relating to security and defense.
These integrated meteo-marine and oceanographic products will offer the best ‘Situational Sea Awareness-SSA’ information for safe and controlled activities at sea, for all the application areas or scenario test cases of the EU CISE 2020 proposal.
