Project meeting
23–25 September 2026 | Milan

The FUTURA Kick-Off Meeting will take place in Milan on 23–25 September, bringing together the project’s 40 partners, EU institutional stakeholders (DG-RTD, DG-CLIMA, CINEA), and sister initiatives to launch the project’s vision, structure, and operational roadmap for bridging climate science and policy. Hosted by CMCC as Project Coordinator, the three-day event runs alongside the ENES-RISe kick-off and combines keynotes, plenaries, and thematic breakout sessions covering overshoot pathways, climate extremes, impacts, carbon dynamics, and model multiverse assessments. Participants will align cross-work-package coordination, define the project’s core demonstrators, and kick off the co-design process for the first FUTURA Outlook. The agenda also features an Early Career Researcher Creative Forum, actor engagement planning, and an External Advisory Board session. A New York Climate Week outreach event on 24 September will extend the discussion to a wider public audience. The meeting concludes with clear implementation plans through Month 18 and an actionable path forward for the consortium.

The event will feature contributions from CMCC speakers Anna Pirani, Massimo Tavoni, Sara Totaro, Malik Aljabu, and Marina Mattera.
